Doris Joan (Lenox) Kostedt

December 28, 1937 ~ September 2, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Doris Joan Kostedt of St. James passes away at the Golden Living Center at St. James on September 2, 2016. She was 78 years 8 months and 5 Days of age.

Doris was born on December 28, 1937 at Ladue, Mo. the daughter of the late William Elza and Elizabeth Thomas Lenox.

On March 24, 1962 in Clayton, Mo., Doris was united in marriage to Raymond Richard Kostedt.

Doris Joan Kostedt is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers: Maurice, Arthur, Robert and George Lenox along with three sisters: Marie McGomery, Helen Bernice Snelson and an infant sister Martha Lenox.

Doris and Raymond lived a wonder life in St Louis. Raymond worked and Doris took care of their home. Doris's life was changed forever when her husband Raymond passed away suddenly on February 17, 1988. After a period of adjustment Doris decided to go to work. She worked at HR Electronics, a coin changer vendor where she worked for over 11 years. She also worked at Bennett Box Manufacturing Company in South St. Louis. Raymond and Doris didn't have children so her dogs were her children and she had many in her life time. She enjoyed baking for people and family along with sewing Barbie clothing for her nieces. After 40 years of living in St. Louis, Doris decided to move to St. James to be closer to family, so in 2006, Doris purchased a lovely home in St. James and continued her love of cooking. She especially loved her friends at the St. James Christian Church. She loved to play Dominos with the girls from the church on Saturday afternoon and share her love of cooking. Doris had many struggles in life, one struggle was cancer, but she was a survivor for over 26 years. Doris appreciated so much her help from all her nieces and nephews who supported her in her later years and especially appreciated Denise and Kevin Barner and Kim Renner. Doris will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
