Julia was a loving wife and mother.  After raising her family, she worked at Dierburg's Grocery store in St. Louis for 20 years until her retirement in 1980.  A few years after retiring, around 1983, she and her husband moved to the family farm located northeast of St. James that had been purchased in 1920 by her husband's grandpa.  She was a talented seamstress; she loved quilting and making dolls.  She made quilts and dolls for each grandchild and great grandchild.  Gardening was also one of her hobbies.  She loved growing vegetables in her garden for canning; she often entered her canned goods in the Grape and Fall Festival exhibits.  Julia was a first generation American; her parents came to America from Hungary.  Her father came over to America in 1907, and her mother came over in 1910.  She graduated from the 8th grade; she was unable to attend high school because she needed to work to help support her family.
