Anna Catherine (Konieczny) Sherfy

November 22, 1932 ~ January 14, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Anna Catherine Sherfy of  St. James  passed away Thursday,  January 14, 2017  at the Miissouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO.  She was 83 years of age.

 

Anna, the daughter of the late Casimere and Matilda Pils Konieczny, was born November 22, 1932 in St. Louis, MO.  She was united in marriage to Manuel Edward Sherfy on November 24, 1951 in St. Louis, MO.

 

She is survived by one son:  Doug  and wife, Lisa; four daughters:  Dee Southard and husband, Jr. of St. James, MO, Nancy Salerno and husband, Brad of Tennesse; Gail Sherfy of St. James, MO, and Annette Bauer and husband, Gary of St. James, MO; five brothers:  Tom Konieczny of Troy, MO, Joe Konieczny of Ferguson, MO, John Konieczny of Villa Ridge, MO, Paul Konieczny of California, and Bill Konieczny of St. Charles, MO; two sisters:  Margaret Wool of Edwardsville, IL and Mary Hutcheson of Elsberry, MO; seven grandchildren:  Christy Butler, Dustin Fannon, Jennifer Brown, Nikki Hicks, Cassie Sherfy, Sonya Sherfy, Alanna Bradley, Brandon Bauer, Justin Sherfy and Alexis Sherfy; eleven great grandchildren:  Taylor Peterson, Marissa Fannon, Corey Brown, Brendon Brown, Hunter Sherfy, Hannah Sherfy, William Bradley, Benjamin Bradley, Wyatt Sherfy, Eliza Sherfy and Abigail Sherfy and a great granddaughter on the way.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward; ; one grandson, Josh Sherfy; her parents; two brothers:  Bud Konieczny and Ed Konieczny;  three sisters:  Helen Ifland, Gerri Lawson and one infant daughter, Matilda.

 

Anna’s great grandparents immigrated to the United States from Poland.  She grew up in St. Louis, MO.  She and her husband moved to St. James from Ellisville, MO 46 years ago.  She worked as a seamstress for California Manufacturing in St, James, MO; she loved sewing, especially for her family.  She made her children and grandchildren’s clothing when they were growing up, and she lovingly made prom dresses and wedding dresses for her daughters and granddaughters.  She had her own sewing shop, Sew ‘N Such.  She also worked at Biltwell selling clothing and making alterations.  Family time was very important to her and her husband; they went on many picnics to Meramec Springs and loved to go to the drive in.  They enjoyed making home videos during family events.  She adored her hummingbirds.  Anna and Ed loved dancing and rock ‘n roll music; they won many dancing competitions from Cuba to the Lake of the Ozarks. 

Anna was a loving and precious mother; she loved to help family and friends.  She volunteered at the St. James Senior Center for 6 years.  She served on committees, delivered meals and, delivered the newsletter.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

Funeral services for Anna will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO; visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of service.  Jerry Baumann will be officiating, and Stephen Brubaker will be the soloist.  Pallbearers will be Scott Sherfy, Justin Sherfy, Wally Westerhold, Tim Westerhold, Joey Dubuque, and Buddy Konieczny.  Interment will be at the St. James Cemetery in St. James, MO.  Memorials may be made to the St. James Senior Center.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in  St. James, MO.
