William Russell Stump of St. James, MO passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Phelps Health in Rolla, MO. He was 74 years of age.
Bill as he was known by his family and friends, was born July 23, 1947, in Washington, PA the son of the late Leroy and Monie Stanley Morris.
On September 23, 1968 in Tacoma, WA he married the love of his life, Marcia Kay Fink.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years. Two sons: Tim Stump and his wife Melissa of Rolla, MO, Stephen Stump and Roma Arbis of Federal Way, WA, and one daughter Danielle Bond and Ray of Federal Way, WA. Brothers: Hank Stump and his wife Sherrie of Kearns, UT, Danny Morris and wife Kathy of Chicago, IL, Malen Stump and wife Anna of Brownsville, PA, Mike Stump and wife Darla of Uniontown, PA, and Dean Morris and wife Pat of Uniontown, PA. Sister, Kay Coddington, and husband Ron of Uniontown, PA. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren: Destini, Devin, Hallie, A.J., Ashlyn, and Aiden., along with many nieces and nephews.
Bill was retired Sargent First Class Army and served for 23.5 years. He loved his country and served in many states and foreign countries. His primary specialty was Tank System Mechanic and Motor Transport Operator. He served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Oversea Service Bars (2), Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Awd), Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. He loved his family and especially loved the Lord. He was a Deacon at Tacoma, WA and member of First Baptist Church – St. James, MO., and served as an usher, Vacation Bible School Bus Driver, and various committees and areas of Service to the Lord. He was a collector. He collected Happy Meal Toys, Vintage Happy Meal Plates and glasses. He collected Ball Caps and also collected magnets. He developed a love for the St. Louis Cardinals through his friend Stephen Brubaker, they would often discuss the Cardinal Team. He was a jokester and loved play jokes with his friends. He rode motorcycles for years and loved the most being a grandpa to his 6 grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill Stump is preceded in death by his parents, one beloved son, William Paul Stump, and two dear sisters, Linda and Gracie.
Visitation for Bill Stump will be held 12 -2 pm Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, by Stephen Brubaker officiating. Stephen Brubaker will Sing Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace with Jeanette Ashley at the Piano. Military Honors will be conducted following the Service at the Jones Funeral Home. Patriot Guard will stand Guard for their fallen brother. Memorial may be given to the American Cancer Society.
