William Moman Obituary

 William Chesley "Did" Moman, passed from this life in Odessa, TX on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

William Chesley "Did" Moman was born to Jacob Moman and Gertrude Bockover on July 21, 1933 in a house in Redbird, Missouri. He grew up on his father's farm in Lanes Prairie, MO and was educated in a small school house for grades 1-12 in which he made it to grade 8. At age 14, he train hopped to Sugarland, TX where he worked odd jobs, including work at a nearby penitentiary. He made his way back to Missouri where he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during the Korean War. When he returned to Missouri, he married his first wife, Alma, who bore his first six children. They separated and he moved to Festus, MO, where he worked as an airplane mechanic. There he met his second wife, Linda. They married in 1976 and moved to Odessa, TX with two of his boys. Here he continued work as an airplane mechanic and they had two daughters. He also worked for about 8 years for Cooper Industries in compressor repair before returning to airplane mechanic work as a hobby that kept him busy until retirement.

Those left to cherish his love and memory include his children: son, Gary Moman, daughter, Patricia Safarik, son, Jacob Moman, son, Tim Moman, daughter, Nancy Quick, son, Ted Moman, and daughter, Audrey Hutchings; and fifteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father: Jacob Moman; mother: Gertrude Beckover; wife: Linda Moman; and daughter: Michelle Moman.

Visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa is scheduled for Saturday, February 4th from 11 am to 9 pm.

Funeral Service in Missouri will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday February 6, 2023 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo with Douglas Lane officiating. Burial will be beside his wife at the Skaggs Chapel Cemetery near Lanes Prairie near Belle, Mo. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
