Shirley Ann (Basford) Kinsey

Shirley Ann Kinsey of St. James passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at her home. She was 84 years of age.

Shirley Ann was born October 30, 1935 in St. James, MO to Rubel and Velva Robertson Basford. She married Tony Kinsey on August 5, 1956, and to this union, three children were born.

She is survived by her husband, Tony of the home; two sons: Bruce Kinsey and wife, Angela of Dacono, CO and Brian Kinsey and wife, Melissa of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Kelley Stenburg and husband, Bill of Severance, CO; grandchildren: Tiffany Buehrlen and husband, Brian; Brittany Butler and husband, Chase; Courtney Campbell and Christopher Kinsey; great grandchildren: Nolan, Madilyn, Emry, Maddox, Ian and Tessa; two sisters: Janet Davis and husband, Butch and Mary Jane Tessaro and husband, Robert and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Basford.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eugene Basford and her oldest sister, Patsy Davis. Shirley worked as a beautician and a medical receptionist, but her drive and purpose was fulfilled by being the most nurturing matriarch to her family-the kindest wife, mother, and grandmother.

Shirley always found happiness in the simplicity of life-cooking meals, bird watching, and being out on her farm. She loved to share stories of growing up with her mother and daddy, and she enjoyed talking with her sisters. She never wanted to miss a Cardinal’s baseball game, but she certainly never missed a beat in loving and taking care of her family, generation after generation.

As a follower of Jesus, her strength and faith guided others with a light of selfless love. She was filled with patience and kindness. She lived a full and vibrant, beautiful life that will never be forgotten.

Private family visitation will be at 1:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel.

Private Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2020 at the High Gate Cemetery with Brother Lynn Huggins officiating. Music will be provided by the church of Christ singers. Pallbearers will be Bruce Kinsey, Bill Stenberg, Chase Butler, Brian Buehrlen, Courtney Campbell, and Nolan Buehrlen.
