Sam was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Krawiecki, née Mason, his parents, two sisters, Elaine Cwiklowski and Jean Fruin, one granddaughter, Kelly Fay Ridenhour Hays, and one great grandson, Oliver Flynn Wells.
Sam was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Most recently, he enjoyed morning coffee with friends at Country Bob’s, dinner dates and day trips with friends, and following the activities of his kids and grandkids. Sam rarely missed his grandkids’ sporting events. He especially loved sitting in the stands at basketball games where he took pride in supporting everyone on the court, not just his own kids. Sam was a Masonic Lodge member for more than 50 years. He was always very cheerful and eager to visit with old friends and new.
Sam worked for Homan Marshall at Highway Transportation of St. James as a truckdriver for many years. He served his country, first as a Marine and then in the United States Army. He was a Korean War Veteran and maintained a close relationship with many of his brothers in arms. He was very proud to serve his country.
It was difficult for Sam to find fault with anyone. He was a loyal and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed.
