Robert Brown Obituary

Robert Lee “Bob” Brown of St. James passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020. He was 81 years of age.

 

Bob, the son of the late Billy Brown and Della Dicus, was born June 27, 1939 in Cherryville, MO. He was united in marriage to Judith Ann Watson on August 26, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts. To this union, two daughters were born.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of St. James; two daughters: Barbara Carpenter of Lee’s Summit, MO and Teresa Ann Laster of Rolla, MO; one brother, Larry Brown of Maplewood, MO; six sisters: Edie Succio of Louisville, KY; Zelma Mokuau of Williamsburg, VA; Margie Vancil of Union, MO; Betty Wegel of Maryland Heights, MO; Junie Operndex of Union, MO and Bonnie Brewer of Des Arc, MO; grandchildren: Vincent “Vinny”,(Caroline), Bobby, Krishanne, Jason(Stephanie), Nathan(Mackenzie), Jacob(Alexis), and Tyler and great grandchildren: Keaton, Gwendolyn, Carter, Cayson, Violet and Sofia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Father, Billie and stepmother, Lorene Brown; Mother, Della and stepfather, Raymond (Ray) Dicus; five brothers: Leroy, Noah, Bill and twins, Ronald and Donald and two sisters: Bernice “Nick” Brewer and Jerry Harger.

Bob was a loving husband to Judy, who had his heart completely for 59 years.  A wonderful father to his girls whom he cherished.   Bob loved his girls so much, and he made sure they always knew it.  He was a wonderful grandpa and great-grandpa and he would do anything for his grandchildren.  He was also a loving and sometimes mischievous brother to his 14 siblings.

Bob was a strong believer in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Saviour, and the Word of Go

He dutifully served our country in the Army-Air Force and National Guard.  In his younger years Bob served in the Army, Air Force as an airplane mechanic and the National Guard.  He left the service and went on to do other things by becoming a carpenter doing painting and taping and retiring after 30 years.  He drove from St. James to St. Louis and back every day so he could be with Judy and his girls in the evenings.  He build and remodeled homes for his wife, girls and numerous family and friends.  He then joined the Army Reserves retiring as a tank commander.  He served a total of 23 and a half years in the Armed Services.

 

Visitation will be 6-8 Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

 

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Brother Mick Thrasher officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Laster, Tyler Laster, Larry Brown, Jason Carpenter, Nathan Laster and Jim Bowen. Burial will be in Ozark Hill Memorial Gardens in Rolla, MO with full military honors.

 

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation and American Cancer Society.

 

All arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
