Robert Dale Bob Watkins

Bob Watkins of St. James passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Phelps Health in Rolla, MO. He was 82 years of age.

Bob, the son of the late Harold and Christine Munzert Watkins, was born November 3, 1940 in Rolla, MO.  On November 21, 1958, Bob married the love of his life, Jean Chilton. On November 21st, he and Jean would have celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jean of St. James, MO; son, John Watkins and wife, Debbie of St. James, MO; two daughters: Tammy Terrill and husband, Mike of St. James, MO and Robin Hutto and husband, Dale of Troy, MO; grandchildren: Travis Terrill (Cheryl), Blake Terrill (Amanda), Alyssa Schweiss (Cameron), Justin Lorts (Kristin), Dylan Lorts (Courtney), John Terrill (Sara) and Levi Hutto; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara Watkins of Rolla, MO and Sharon Forness of Rolla, MO; sister-in-laws: Debbie Scudder and husband, John; Sharon Tennyson and husband, Jerry; and Donna Bruns and husband, Matt; and two brother-in-laws: Larry Chilton and wife, Judy and Dale Chilton and wife, Laura.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Lorraine Chilton; father-in-law, Marvin Chilton; brothers: Sam Watkins and Kenny Stevens; sister, Sandra Watkins; brother-in-laws: Warren Forness and Richard Chilton; and sister-in-law, Mary Etta Blackburn.

Bob worked as a carpenter for most of his life. He was also known as “Country Bob” where he and his wife started the restaurant, Country Bob’s. Bob loved his horses and his dog, Fred. Bob was a member of the Quarter Horse Association and the Paint Horse Association. He raised many horses through the years;  they were definitely his pride and joy.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 18, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Brubaker and John Scudder officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis Terrill, Blake Terrill, Bailey Terrill, Justin Lorts, Dylan Lorts, Levi Hutto and Alyssa Schweiss. Honorary pallbearer will be John Rueben Terrill. Burial will be in Adams Cemetery in St. James, MO.
