Norman David Satterfield Sr. of St. James passed away at his home on Sunday, October 10, 2021. He was 81 years of age.
Norman Satterfield was born on March 11, 1940, in Washington, MO, the son of the late Russell and Zella Cowan Satterfield.
He was united in marriage to Natividad Satterfield on January 10, 1962, in the Philippines. She entered into rest on March 15, 2005.
Norman is survived by his beloved children, sons: Norman Satterfield Jr. of St. James, MO and Mark Satterfield (wife Shana) of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Deborah Paxson of Waynesville, OH; one dear brother, Ira Satterfield and his wife, Bonnie of St. James, MO; three precious grandchildren: Luke Paxson, Olivia Paxson, and Holly Lancaster and one great-grandchild, Oli Lancaster.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Zella Satterfield; one son: Ricky Satterfield, born on May 5, 1975, and laid to rest on Sept. 21st, 1978, one brother, Vernon Satterfield, and one sister, Ruth Walker.
Norman was a career Air Force Veteran. Growing up he was always fascinated with airplanes, and with the influence of his family, he joined the Air Force. He stayed in the Air Force for over 20 years. He was stationed in many places throughout his career. While in the Philippines, he met and married his beloved wife, Naty. After returning to the states, Norman worked to get his pilot license. He loved to fly over the wide-open cornfields of Illinois. After moving back to Missouri, he loved spending time at High Gate where his ancestors had deep roots. Norman was dearly loved by all and loved to be around people, and he enjoyed helping and making people laugh. Norman was a funeral director for many years working beside his good friend, Jesse Gahr. He worked beside Jesse Gahr at the James & Gahr Mortuary for over 20 years.
Norman Satterfield will lie in state from 6-8 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021, at the High Gate Baptist Church. Burial with full Military Honors will be beside his wife at the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family. Memorials can be made to the High Gate Baptist Church.
