Michael Joseph Brown of Byrnes Mill, MO passed away at his home Saturday morning, May 15, 2021. He was 67 years of age.
He was born June 1, 1953, in Rolla, MO, the son of the late William and Lois Clark Brown.
On September 16, 1995, in St. James, he was united in marriage to Joyce A. Byrd Brown.
Survivors are his beloved wife, Joyce Brown of the home; two daughters: Lisa Marie Brown and Keri Sue Brown, both of Youngstown, OH; one brother, Harold Brown of Rolla, MO and 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Devin, and Roy along with mother and father-in-law Bill and Myrna Byrd of St. James, MO and many other relatives.
Michael retired from law enforcement. He was a police chief in Ariton, Alabama for several years. He held the rank of Sergeant in Dothan, Alabama in the Houston County Correctional Center. He had worked locally for the Phelps and Miller County Sheriff Departments. Even though Mike was an enforcer of the law, he was also known as a kind man. Some classmates referred to him as a gentle giant. Aside from work, he enjoyed collecting guns and coins. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael Brown will lie in state from 4-6 PM Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO with Police Chaplain Dave Stain officiating. Memorials may be given to Diabetes Research. Burial of the ashes will be interred at the St. James Cemetery.
