Melvin D Jones

Melvin D. Jones of St. James, Mo. passed away at Phelps Health on January 30, 2019. He was 71 years, 7 months and 24 days of age.

Melvin D. Jones was born on June 6, 1947 in Rolla, Mo. to his parents: John Edward and Virginia Earls Jones. He was married to Betty Pankey on July 16, 1973 in Rolla, Missouri.

Surviving Melvin D. Jones is his wife Betty Jones of St. James, Mo.; one son: Jamie Jones and wife Caroline of Dexter, Mo.; one brother Calvin and Nadine Jones,  along with two grandchildren Avery and Carsen.

Melvin Jones is preceded in death by  his parents, Brother and Sister-In-Law: Carl and June Jones and one sister; Shirley Pierce.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam Conflict and received many awards.  Melvin was a Life Member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He worked for the Oak Meadow Country Club as Groundskeeper for several years. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren Avery and Carsen. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Melvin D. Jones will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday February 1, 2019 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 2, 2019 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Don Carson officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at the Ozark Hill Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Mo.
