Mary Weaver Obituary

Mary Katherine Weaver of Memphis, TN, formerly of St. James, MO, passed away December 30, 2022, at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN following a short illness.

Mary Katherine Weaver, the daughter of the late George Ernest Jr. and Jessie Rose Hodge Weaver, was born October 8, 1963, in Mt. Vernon, MO.

Mary was born with some physical challenges, but she pursued her life to the fullest.  Put simply, Mary loved herself, Jesus, and all of God’s people.  She lived with her parents, George and Jessie Weaver, for the greater part of her life in Memphis, TN.  She was a high school graduate and an active participant in Special Olympics.  She loved to read her Bible, swim, play basketball, and sing loudly.

After Weaver’s retirement, Mary moved with them to St. James, MO where she volunteered at the Golden Age Center and in First Baptist’s clown ministry and preschool department.  Mary most recently lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Patti & Jack Reed, in Arlington, TN.  One of Mary’s greatest joys was spending her days at Shepherd’s Haven where they created ceramic art, laughed, sang, and played together in a very special needs community.  Shepherd’s Haven has a day center and residential home where she had many, many friends.

Mary also leaves behind an extended family of nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her sweet smile and enthusiastic personality.  In Mary’s honor, the family invites you to make a donation to Shepherd’s Haven which serves the special needs community so well.  Mary was loved, and so are you.

Funeral Services were held in Memphis, TN with her family and friends attending.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. February 10, 2023, at the St. James Cemetery with Stephen Brubaker officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in the family plot next to  her mom and dad. Memorials are suggested to  Shepherd’s Haven of Memphis, TN, or the First Baptist Church of St. James.
