Lola Mae Quinley Hatcher of St. James, Missouri was born December 10, 1922, and passed away Wednesday morning December 9th, 2020 at the Birch Point Health and Rehabilitation in Springfield, MO. She was 97 years of age.
She attended grade school at Daniels School in Dent County and high school at Cherryville, Missouri.
Lola married Everett Hatcher on December 12, 1939 at Eminence, Missouri. They were happily married for 77 years until Everett passed away December 27, 2016. They spent
most of their married life in St. James, Missouri.
They were blessed with three children: Nelda, Denny, and Brad. Lola loved gospel music. She and two or three of her friends would go to Nashville, Tennessee for the week-end and they would go to all the gospel music shows. She enjoyed baseball and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. in her younger days, she played shortstop or third base on the St. James women's softball team. She also loved to cook for her family. She became a Christian at an early age and has been a member of First Baptist Church of St. James, Missouri for many years.
Lola worked all her adult life at different jobs: Rice Stix Dress Factory, several grocery stores and restaurants. She went back to school and became a hair stylist and owned her own salon. She was employed at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri where she was the Supervisor of the kitchen for 18' years. She and Everett owned andoperated Hatcher Trucking and Excavation.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Ora Quinley; parents-in-law Jamesand Artie Hatcher, husband Everett Hatcher, infant son James Everett Hatcher, son James Dennis (Denny) Hatcher, grandson Rick Vandiver, brother Wilbur Quinley, sister-in-law Pauline Quinley, sister Helen Pitts and husband Cecil , sister Evelyn Pitts, and husband Wilber, infant brother Roger Quinley, brother-in-law James Daniel.
She is survived by her children, Nelda Carwile, St James, Missouri, Bradley Hatcher and wife Tina, York, Pennsylvania. Eight grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, sister Ruth Daniel, nieces, nephews and many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Vistation for Lola Hatcher will be Sunday December 13, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until Funeral time at 2:00 p.m. John Montgomery will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery.
