Larry Eickhorst Obituary

Larry Dale Eickhorst formerly of St.James MO passed away at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was 61 years of age.

Larry, the son of William F. and Shirley Mae Eickhorst, was born June 27, 1960. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Welch on May 22, 1982, in St.James MO.

He is survived by his parents, William and Shirley Eickhorst of St.James MO; his wife Patricia of Cuba MO; one daughter: Jessica Pinnell and husband Mark of Cuba MO; two granddaughters: Chelsea and Miranda Pinnell of Cuba MO; two brothers: Gary Eickhorst of Overland Park, KS and Jeff Eickhorst of Bowling Green MO; Sister in Law Carolyn Eickhorst of Holt Summitt MO: three nephews; Stephen Eickhorst Holt Summit MO; Jonathan Eickhorst and wife Stacey of New Bloomfield; Ethan Eickhorst of Parkville, MO;  one niece: Abby Pollard and husband Reilly of Prairie Village KS;  two Great nephews and many other family members.

Larry is preceded in death by his brother Bill Eickhorst. Paternal Grandparents Julius and Zelma Eickhorst; Maternal Grandparents Lyndon and Iva Sorrell. One niece Elizabeth Eickhorst; Father in Law John E. Welch and nephew Jacob Tomasovic.

Larry had a heart of gold. He would help anyone, anywhere, and anytime. He attended RTI while in High School, where he graduated from John F. Hodge in 1978. Larry was the mechanic for his family-owned business since he was in high school. It was not uncommon for Larry to make after-hour calls whether it was a wrecker call, hayfield, farm, or to the grape vineyard during picking season. He was a perfectionist and took pride in every task he performed. Larry was known to be the best mechanic around St.James. He always finished what he started. He was the best handyman around the farm and home. He loved to play the guitar. He played both the acoustic and electric guitars. He had the talent to play by listening and very seldomly read music notes on paper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and finding mushrooms. He always put his family first, he loved spending time with them whether they were cutting wood or working on the farm together. Larry loved his family especially his granddaughters and thoroughly enjoyed watching them show livestock. Larry made his family promise to not have his funeral until after the Grape and Fall Festival. So, his Granddaughters could continue the tradition of showing in his hometown fair, as he did with his own daughter.

Larry will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
