Josephine Mary (Zulpo) Marcus

Josephine Mary Marcus of St. James, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at St. James Living Center in St. James, Missouri. She was 99 years of age.

Josephine, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Vitali Zulpo, was born November 15, 1923 in Rosati, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Gerald Marcus on Saturday, April 21, 1945 at St. Anthony Catholic Church's Rectory.

She is survived by her son, Mike Marcus, and wife, Sharon of St. James, Missouri; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her husband, Gerald who passed away on April 16, 1995; son, Dennis Marcus who passed away December 4, 2022; an infant daughter; brothers: Louis Zulpo, Joe Zulpo, Marino Zulpo and infant, Joseph Zulpo; and sisters: Rose Murphy, Virginia Piazza, Victoria (Vicky) King, and Josephine Zulpo who died at age 14.

Josephine was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed caring for the beautiful flowers around her house. She lovingly took care of her home for many years; she had only moved to St. James Living Center a few months ago. She regularly attended St. Anthony Church, and she was an active member of the Sodality group at the church for many years.

Josephine Marcus will lie in state Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rosati, Missouri.

Funeral Mass for Josephine Marcus will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rosati, Missouri with Father Greg Meystrik officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Zulpo, Steve Zulpo, Matt Zulpo, Bob Burris, Andy Wasser and Jim Johns. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in Rosati, Missouri. Memorials may be given to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery or a Mass may be given.
