Joseph Glenn DiCarlo of St. James passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at his son’s home in Valley Park, Missouri. He was 82 years of age.
Joe, the son of the late Joe and Hattie Kirby DiCarlo, was born April 29, 1941 in Rosati, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Janet Kay Terrill in 1969 in Clayton, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of St. James, Missouri; two sons, Tony DiCarlo of St. James, Missouri and Jason DiCarlo and wife, Meg of Valley Park, Missouri; sister, Mary Hughes and husband, George of St. James, Missouri; brother, Henry DiCarlo of Portageville, MO; grandchildren: Leann, Nathan, Callie, Justin and Tori; and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rosario DiCarlo and sister-in-law, Betty DiCarlo.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His family was near and dear to him; he loved the family dinners and the many holidays celebrated in his home. Joe was known as Mr. Fix-It; he had a talent for repairing broken or worn out machinery. If he couldn’t find the right tool, then he would make the needed tool to get the job done. He used his engineering and welding skills to build a trailer from scratch for Jason’s hay hauling business. He was willing to build fences and to build additions onto houses, but when it came to painting, he was not a willing volunteer. Along with helping others, he enjoyed doing odd jobs on his farm with his tractor. His favorite honorary son, Dave Doerr, encouraged Jason to purchase the John Deere 41 Model B that his dad enjoyed so much.
Joe worked at Echo Supply in Cuba, Missouri as a die maker for 28 years.
