John C. Dillard of Cuba formerly of St. James passed away Friday January 17, 2020 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. He was 81 years of age.
John Dillard was born May 24, 1938 in St. Louis. He was united in marriage to Gloria Moehlmann on July 20th, 1962.
He is survived by three sons: Richard Moehlmann and his wife Peggy of Imperial, Mo; Darrell Dillard and his wife Pamela of Bourbon, Mo., and David Dillard and his wife Delisa of Desoto, Mo. One brother Jerry Dillard of St. Louis and one sister Jessie Hirsh and her husband Buddy of St Louis, Mo. Along with grandchildren: Thomas Moehlmann and his wife Jennifer, Keith Moehlmann and his wife Jennifer and their children A.J. and Penelope and Sarah Hoehlmann.
Preceding him in death are his parents, along with his wife Gloria Moehlmann Dillard, daughter: Shirley Dillard; sister-in-law Beverly Dillard and one sister Carol Lewis.
John was an Entomologist. Which is the study of Insects. He owned and operated Eagle Pest Control company in St. Louis for many years and worked for McCloud Pest Control Company before retiring. Mr. Dillard served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. He was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign War and volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home for several years along with delivered meals to seniors in St. James. He loved the outdoors. Along with hunting and fishing he loved to travel to the Smoky Mountains, sometimes more than once in a years time. Mr. Dillard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Dillard will lie in state on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at noon at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 12 noon on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Jerry Baumann officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Flag Line and escort will be provided by the South Central Patriot Guard. Burial with full military honors will be at the St. James Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Veterans Assistance League at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James.
