James Franklin Rinehart was born November 4, 1920 to Herschel and Augusta (Skouby) Rinehart. He passed away on Friday August 27th, 2021 at the age of 100 years and 9
months.
Jim attended 8 years at the Oak Grove School and he completed high school in Bland, Missouri. Jim was raised attending the Oak Grove Church of Christ and was baptized into
Christ in 1942. He remained a faithful Christian and was a wonderful example throughout his life. He farmed with his family and worked various jobs in the community until he was
drafted into the army in August of 1942. During his service, Jim fought in the Italian Campaign. He returned home in 1945, having received a Purple Heart and other honors. He
then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. Jim enjoyed working with the farmers and the youth in the community
through his jobs with County Extension in Salem, a chicken hatchery and feed store, teaching at the Miles School and the Saint James High School, where he taught Physical Education
and was an Assistant Coach. He worked for the Federal Land Bank and Production Credit. Throughout all this time, he remained in the family home and cared for his mother and father.
In retirement, Jim worked his farm, enjoying the cattle and horses. He enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews on the farm. Uncle Jim's open-door policy to his family and
friends has offered a place of loving support to many generations. Jim was a bachelor, but was the keeper of family photographs, family stories, and family values.
