James S. Oliver

James Oliver of St. James passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. He was 82 years old.

James, the son of the late Marion Stewart and Mary Gertrude Cain Oliver, was born August 2, 1938. He was united in marriage to Thelma Jean Mitchell on March 20, 1963 in Bay Springs, Mississippi; she preceded him in death in September 1968.

James is survived by his son, James Oliver and wife, Brenda of St. James; one brother, Keith Oliver of Jefferson City, MO and one sister, Ilene Bell of DeSoto, MO, along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Oliver and his wife, Thelma Oliver.

James spent most of his life as a communications technician. He traveled over the United States putting up communication towers. One of his greatest loves was operating Ham radios. He earned his masters degree in communications. He was originally from Mississippi and settled in St. James after his wife passed away.

James Oliver will lie in state at10 AM Friday, November 6, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home is St. James.

Funeral service will be held 11AM Friday, November 6, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Alicia Fisher, minister of the St. James United Methodist Church will officiate at the funeral. Burial of the ashes will be at the Miles Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. James United Methodist Church.
