James O Griffin Sr.

James O. Griffin Sr. of St. James, MO., passed away at his home on February 14, 2022. He was 74 years of age.

James was born on April 29, 1947, in St. Louis, MO to the late Clarance Oliver Griffin and Edith Bell (Handy) Griffin.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Patricia and her husband Daniel Busby; two sons, James O. Griffin Jr. And wife Brittany of Ashland, MO; and David P. Griffin and wife Jacqueline of Fort Jackson, SC; and six grandchildren, Anya, Dylan, Kaydence, David, Jackson, and Lillith; and extended family Nathan Cahill and wife Amanda; and their children, Christian, Abigale, and Heather.

James O. Griffin Sr. is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim served his country in the United States Navy for 23 years. He entered the service in 1967 in St. Louis, MO. While in service he was an Aviation Metal Smith 1st Class. He was a humble and decorated Sailor having received multiple awards and decorations for his dedicated service. He ended his military service in 1990, retiring in Virginia Beach, VA. Shortly after retiring from the Navy, he became an over-the-road truck driver. During his time driving flatbed trucks, he visited almost every state in the country. After his second retirement, he settled down in Saint James, MO in order to be close to his two sons and extended family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate his life well-lived.
