James “Jimmy” Calvin Brown Jr. of Rolla, MO passed away suddenly at his home Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was 71 years of age.
He was born September 21, 1950, in St. Louis to the late James Calvin Brown Sr and Vivian Clarkson.
James Brown was united in marriage to Rosaline Cruz on October 30, 1975, in Waynesville, MO.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Rosaline Brown of Rolla, MO., one sister, Brenda Duinnegan of O’Fallon, MO, and two brothers, Paul Brown of Bonne Terre, MO, and William Rick Brown and wife Robin of St. Louis, MO. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Linda Brown of Imperial, MO, and several nieces and nephews, along with a community who is grateful for all Jimmie and Rosie have done for our community, he will be greatly missed.
James Calvin Brown Jr. is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jerry Brown.
Jimmie, as he was known by his family and friends was always serving others. He and his wife “Rosie” owned and operated the St. James Flag Store for over 15 years, having bought it from Bernard and Virginia Underwood. He was active in his community in many roles. He has served in the US Marines. He became the American Legion Commander and served as Adjutant in the American Legion in Rolla. He volunteered wherever needed in his community. He and his volunteers were instrumental in displaying flags in our community for Holidays and Flag Day. He would find people who needed firewood for the winter months and would contact Missouri S &T for men who would help cut and deliver the wood. When he found time to relax, he would love to go fishing and always talk about the big one that got away. He enjoyed watching the St Louis Blues and the St Louis Cardinals.
A Memorial Celebration will be 12:30-3:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Veteran's Park on South View Dr. Rolla, MO.
