James Douglas Black of St. James passed away Sunday morning, March 22, 2020 at Frene
Valley Nursing Home Owensville, MO, following a brief illness. He was 61 years of age.

James, the son of James Fredrick Black and Marlene Ann Brooner, was born September 13,
1958 in Burlington, Vermont. He was united in marriage to Brenda Henson on October 25,
1980 in Rolla, MO and to this union, four children were born.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of St. James, MO; two daughters: Rebecca McGill of St.
James and Shelly Black and fiance, Billy Coello of Owensville, MO; two sons: Jonathan Black
and wife, Bethany of Rolla, MO and James Black of Rolla, MO; stepfather: James Brooner of
Mobile, AL; three brothers: Doug Flores of St. James, MO, Steven Black of Rolla, MO and Tony
Black of Edgar Springs, MO; two sisters: Sheila Hays and husband, Rob of Rolla, MO and

He is preceded in death by father, James Fredrick Black; mother, Marlene Ann Brooner;
stepmother, Mary Kay Black; and two brothers: Dallas Black and Jay Taft.

James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked for Norman Feeler Service
Company as a heating and air Technician for 33 years. However, Norman was more than an
employer to James, he considered him a father. Jim never wanted to let a customer down. He
even made a service call before he went to the hospital when he was diagnosed with his
cancer. He was still receiving calls on his cell phone from customers when he was in the nursing
home. In years past, he also worked for Sid’s Upholstery in Rolla, and for a moving and storage
company. He graduated from Rolla High School. Jim was loved by all who knew him.
