Frances Marie (Bock) Happel

Frances Marie Happel of St James passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023. She was 88 years of age.

She was born June 17, 1934 in High Gate, Mo., the daughter of the late Joe and Gladys Cowan Bock.

On June 24, 1955, at Chattanooga, TN she was united in marriage to Kenneth Happel.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years. Sons: Robert Happel and wife Donna of St. James and Eric Happel and wife Anderea of Versailles, Mo. Daughters: Linda Marie Picker Johnson and husband Michael of Grants Pass, Oregon, Babbie Schlaeppi of Cuba, and Lisa Happel of St. James. Sisters: Kathleen Kickney of St. James and Reva of St. James. 8 Grandchildren: Michael Picker, Chad Picker, Jason Happle, Matthew Schleappi, Heather Dahlby, Samantha Schleappi, Casey Hoevel, Devin Klossner, and Mallory North. Along with 17 great-grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Frances was a homebody and loved being at home. She was very proud of her home. She loved her dogs, JJ and Rocky. She loved to garden and always had tomatoes to can and green beans to snap. Frances worked at the St. James U-Save Mart for 15 years. She loved being around people and love to visit. She worked for 19 years at Rolla Nutrition Site and worked at the St James Dress Factory as a seamstress for many years. She also worked for California Mfg. in St. James. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Marlin and Arlis Bock.

Visitation for Frances Happel will be at 12 Noon Thursday, April 27th, 2023 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Celebration of Life will be at 2 PM Thursday, April 27th, 2023 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. The burial of her ashes will be after the Celebration of Life and will be in the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the Phelps County Animal Rescue of St. James. Cards and all arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home of St. James, Mo.
