Ethel Lucille (Hall) Sample

Ethel Lucille Hall Sample passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on October 12, 2020, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was born to Lucille Henderson Hall and Robert Edward Hall on March 29, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis, her parents, Robert and Lucille Hall, her stepfather, Thomas Holyfield, her brother, Robert Noel Hall, sisters, Francis Jenkins & Catherine Edge, her granddaughter Karen Derden Carter & great-grandson Jordan.

Ethel spent most of her life in Prairie and Lonoke counties in Arkansas, living in Biscoe, Humnoke and Hazen. She married Ellis Roland Sample in 1944 and they were married 61 years before his passing in 2007. Ethel and Ellis moved to Salem, Missouri in 1985 to be near their son James and his family.

She is survived by her son James and wife Joan Sample of Salem, Missouri, her daughter Joyce Taylor of Stuttgart, Arkansas, her granddaughter Jill and great-granddaughter, Madalen of Joplin Missouri, grandson James Sample and his wife Tua and great-grandchildren Jalyn and Dean of Salem, Missouri, granddaughter Chrissy Derden White and great-granddaughter Tiffany White of Stuttgart, Arkansas, great- grandson Christopher Miller and wife Beth and great, great-granddaughter Linda of Salem, Missouri.

She was a farmer’s wife, a homemaker and also worked at the Remington plant in Lonoke, Arkansas. She loved to fish, hunt and garden. She attended First Baptist Church in Salem and loved the Lord. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be 2 pm on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Sample-Nevins Cemetery near Salem, MO. All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
