Ethan Parrott Obituary

Ethan Michael Parrott of St. James, Missouri passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 as a result of a truck accident near St. James, Missouri. He was 17 years of age.

Ethan, the son of David Michael and Amy Lea (Gaul) Parrott, was born February 21, 2006 in Rolla, Missouri.

Ethan is survived by his parents, David and Amy of St. James, Missouri; sister, Ashlyn Parrott (Garrett Gibson) of St. James, Missouri; nephew, Grayson Gibson of St. James, Missouri; grandparents: James Gruver and wife, Ranae of Steelville, Missouri and Doug Parsons of St. James, Missouri; great-grandparents:  Edward “Jesse” and Dorothy Parrott of Rolla, Missouri and Julia McCrite of St. James; aunts and uncles; Elizabeth Gillam and husband, Richy of Davisville, Missouri;  Emily Moreland and husband, Shannon of St. James, Missouri; Josh Gruver and wife, Melissa of Davisville, Missouri; Kristie Parsons of St. James, Missouri; and Dereck Parsons of St. James, Missouri and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Gruver; grandmother, Patricia Parsons; grandfather, Robert Gaul; and great-grandparents, Katherine and Buck Shackelford, Robert and Marlene Gaul, David and Clara Gruver, and Lloyd McCrite.

Ethan loved everyone, and he was loved by everyone. He was kind and helpful to everyone he met. He tackled his daily jobs with a “Get it Done” attitude. Even though schoolwork wasn’t his favorite way to spend his time, he worked hard in his academic studies, and he achieved a lot of success in his academic pursuits. Ethan really loved football; he played offensive guard and backup defensive tackle for his high school team, the St. James Tigers. He had a huge heart for the game and for his teammates. His teammates made him feel like he had a place on the team, and he played hard to make his teammates shine.

Ethan loved spending time with his family; his nephew, Grayson, especially held a special place in his heart. The many hours of smiles and laughter will be remembered by those who were so privileged to be a part of their special friendship.  Ethan looked forward to times that he could spend fishing and gigging on the Meramec River. Shop class, old cars and hot rods were also favorites of his. We are so grateful for the many memories that we can cherish and hold dear to our hearts.  Ethan will be missed by his family and by the many friends who were blessed to have known him.

Ethan’s plan upon graduation was to join the Marines.
