Ernest Railey Obituary

Ernest Edward Railey passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his home in High Gate, Missouri. He was 86 years of age.

Ernest, the son of the late Forrest B. and Faye (Gibson) Railey, was born November 24, 1936 in Houston, Texas.

Ernest is survived by his three sons: Brian Railey of High Gate, Missouri,  Michael Railey of High Gate, Missouri, and David Miller of Hayburn, Idaho; three daughters: Virginia Railey of High Gate,Missouri  Susan Christeson of High Gate, Missouri and Barbara Jean Garcia of Rupert, Idaho; and brother, Gerald Railey and wife, Robin of LaPine Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Wife Barbara Railey; brother, Larry Clayton Railey; sisters: Elsie Lynn, Beryl Railey, Audrey Manues, and Mary Helen Story; and two brother-in-laws: Henry Lynn and Richard Manues and son in-law James Christeson.

Ernest was born in Houston Texas. He served in the US military-Army, Korean conflict. As a young man he resided in California where he drove race cars on a figure 8 track. He also had the privilege of having his car in the classic movie Herbie the Love Bug. He was a semi truck driver for many years and owned his own trucking company Mr Express. After moving to Missouri, Ernest managed Hocker Oil best known as Gas Plus in Belle, before taking full retirement. Ernest loved and was loved by family and friends.

Some of Ernest's favorite things to do was, fishing, playing poker, camping at his property in Anza, California where he practiced shooting his guns. He also taught his children to shoot. Ernest loved being around his family!

Ernest was proud of his Irish heritage; he loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. With his Irish complexion and full, white beard, he was known as Santa by many in Belle. Ernest will be missed by many...

Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
