Edward “Duke” Tweed, age 81 passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 in St. James, MO.
Duke was born in Houston, MO on May 23, 2941 to Horace “Jim” Tweed and Lorena (Reed) Tweed. He grew up in Houston, MO with one brother. After graduating high school, he went on to obtain a doctorate degree in electrical engineering. In 1970, Dr. Tweed developed a device to determine the extent and location of spinal cord injuries in accident victims at the Barrow Neuroligical Institute in Phoenix, AZ. It was hailed as a “medical breakthrough.”
Duke settled in St. James and used his degree working for Ameren UE, for UMR as a professor, and in St. Louis designing/mapping electrical grids. He was an active Mason. He always had a smile, loved meeting people and learning new things.
Duke is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Walter James Tweed.
Duke is survived by dear friends, Don and Karen Clover and family and nephews: Michael, Mark, and Kevin Tweed.
A Celebration of Duke’s life will be held at a future date.
