Don was an over-the-road trucker most of his life. He drove a concrete truck for 36 years. He worked for Havin Redi-Mix, Breckenridge Redi-Mix, and Rolla Redi-Mix. He was most known for his 44 years with the Vichy Fire Department, serving as Chief of the Vichy Fire Department for 38 of those years. While performing as Chief of the Fire Department, many great changes were made possible including constantly upgrading equipment and building a new facility not only for the Fire Department but for the town of Vichy. The Vichy Fire Department is known for fundraising dinners, auctions, and other events at the firehouse, which has brought Vichy and the surrounding town together for good times of fellowship. Through his leadership, great volunteers, and support from the community, Don has made the Vichy Fire Department one of the best departments in the state of Missouri.
Don was also known for his quick wit and fun sense of humor. When you saw Don, he had an inviting smile and was always ready to visit. He loved his family dearly and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and Nascar and had a great collection of pocket knives with a story for each one he collected. He always had his unwavering faith in God and accepted His will in his life.
