David Benedict Morris

August 31, 1939 ~ October 18, 2021 (age 82)

David Benedict Morris of Clinton Township, Michigan passed away October 18, 2021. He was 82 years of age.

David, the son of the late Ben and Roberta Morris, was born August 31, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He became a devoted and loving husband to Dawne Juris on December 31, 1988 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

David is survived by his wife, Dawne, now living in Blacklick, Ohio; son, Larry Morris and wife, Susan of Rolla, MO; daughter, Robin Lanphier of Chicago, IL; sister, Barbara Morris; grandchildren: Joshua Morris and wife, Jessiqa of Hermann, MO; Julie Felan and husband, Dustin of St. James, MO; Jennifer Morris of Seffner, FL and Jessica Morris of Rolla, MO; great grandchildren: Addalye, Abigail, Benjamin, Layla, Elijah, Grahym, Evelynn, and Olyver.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Todd Morris.

David became a child of God in his twenties and was a devoted worker in the Lord’s Church the rest of his life. David was always willing to serve as a teacher, song leader, led prayers, and Bible studies. He served as an elder in the South Macomb Church of Christ in Roseville, Michigan for over 18 years. David was an introvert by nature, but when it came to socializing with the brethren, he never missed an opportunity.

David made sure the children in the congregation knew him and he made a special point to learn their interests. He taught the children Morse Code and they took much pleasure in sending him messages to translate and he sent messages back for them to translate.

David wrote songs for the children to sing to help them remember God’s word. His work with the children will impact their future Christian lives; he was an example for them of how to grow up to be a good and Godly adult. One of the members at South Macomb told David that he had taught him how to grow old in the Lord. More than anything, he loved to talk with people concerning God's word and their path in life.

David was an electrician by trade, and he worked for General Motors for 42 years. His talent for wiring things to work and analyzing the problem when things didn’t work also carried over into his hobbies and interests as well. He enjoyed operating Ham radios. One could even call him an enthusiast for repairing radios. He loved to purchase radio kits and build them. Not only did he love the mental challenge of solving electrical and mechanical problems, but he also loved inviting others to exercise their problem solving skills through riddles. Whether visiting him in person or on the phone, whether young or old, he always left you with a riddle to solve. He especially liked giving his grandchildren and the children at church riddles to solve until the next time that he saw them.
