Darrell W. Johnson

Darrell Wayne Johnson of St. James, MO, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the St James Living Center. He was 74 years of age. He was born August 13, 1946, in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of John Denzil and Maxine Thompson Johnson.

Dr. Johnson is survived by his beloved mother Maxine Johnson resident of St. James, MO, daughter Brandice McKechnie and her husband Chris of LeLand, North Carolina; son, Dennis Schellenberger and wife Jenny of Springfield, MO; sister, Dottye Robinson and her husband Butch of Dow, Illinois; and sister, Jackie Robinson and her husband Terry of Thompson, MO; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Darrell Johnson was a retired Chiropractor and graduated from the Cleveland Chiropractic School in Kansas City, MO. He practiced for many years in Louisiana and started three chiropractic clinics with his business partner which were very successful. He was actively engaged in health and fitness during his lifetime and competed as an amateur body-builder in his youth. As a young man during the Vietnam era, Darrell served in the United States Air Force as a supply specialist and was honorably discharged. He received many military awards and recognitions for his service on the homefront and overseas. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and specialized in building furniture and custom handmade pieces. He also raised several boxer dogs which he loved and enjoyed training. Darrell's quick-wit, humor and renewed faith in Christ carried him through the challenges he faced in life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Darrell Johnson will lie in state Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 9-11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral Service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, with Pastor Gary Bartle Officiating. Pastor David Robinson and Judi Bartle are the soloists.
