Curtis Voss Obituary

Curtis Dean Voss of St. James, Missouri was born October 9, 1946 in Harvey, Illinois and passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Grace (nee Hock) Voss and sister Donna (nee Voss) Merritt.

He married Patricia Gossett on February 5, 1977 in South Holland, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Voss; daughter Melanie and husband, Eric Earney of Union, Missouri; son Eric and wife, June of Orlando, Florida; brother Steven Voss and wife, Jill; brother-in-law Larry Merritt, along with his four grandchildren: Hailey, Cammie, Kylah and Cayden who were the light of his life; also six nieces and nephews and other relatives.

As a Vietnam Veteran, Curt loved to visit with other Marines, and never met one that wasn’t a brother. Besides being passionate about the military he loved to work on the farm with his cattle (“Lucky”).

Curt was a successful businessman from owning a Trophy Store for 22 years, and being a farmer for 20 years. He volunteered on the sewer board where he was recognized as the 2016 Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. He was a man who was strong headed, true to his convictions, loved his family, and always had a USMC hat on his head and a diet coke in his hand waiting for the next revolution.

The family is having a private service at Fort Leonard Wood. In Lieu of flowers they ask for donations to be made to the Missouri Veterans Home of St. James.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
