Beate Kataline (DeGroat) "Bea" Prewett

Beate Kataline “Bea” Prewett of St. James, MO passed away quietly Thursday November 24, 2022 at the Cedar Point Nursing Home in Rolla, MO., She was 71 years of age.

Beate was born May 14, 1951 in Sigmaringen, Germany the daughter of the late Tommy J. and Edith Anna Bergman DeGroat.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Woodrow Prewett in Dixon, Mo. He entered into rest 2002.

She is survived by her son Joshua Prewett of St. James, MO., one sister Barbara Armstrong of St. James and one brother Adrian T. DeGroate of Rolla, MO., along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister Julia Burgess who entered into rest November 27, 2020.

Bea, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in Germany where her father had 3 tours in the United States Military. She enjoyed the area and had many pictures of the old castles, and would tell stories about visiting the big beautiful buildings. Her family later moved to Dixon, Mo., area, where she graduated High School. Bea, worked at the Lucy Wortham James Elementary Cafeteria for many years. She loved to be around people, she worked at the Country Café in St. James and also for Casey's making pizzas and delicious donuts. She loved to play Bingo and sometimes she and her sister Julia would attend a Bingo game every night of the week.  When she was young, she won a large jackpot from a Bingo Game, that paid for the family home in full, the family still owns the home. She was a gentle delicate soul that loved her family and will be sadly missed.
