Amy Beth Lawson Turner, age 79, of St. James, Missouri died September 17, 2022. Amy was born October 15,1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to James and Ruth Lawson.
Amy was a 1960 graduate of Central High School. In 1999 she graduated from Drury University with a degree in Psychology, and a degree from St. Paul School of Theology in 2004. In 2006 Amy became an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.
After working in the Springfield Greene County Health Department, Amy began her ministry for the United Methodist Church. During her 27year service, she served the following churches in Missouri: Oakland, Bois D’Arc, Creighton, Lucas, St. James, Conway/Niangua, and New Hope/Woolam in Owensville.
Amy enjoyed learning about growing flowers, crocheting, embroidery, ceramics, and oil painting. She also loved reading and giving back to her community through volunteering.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jim and Billy Jack Lawson, and her youngest son Keith Allen Turner.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Cyr and her husband, Ken, and son Kevin Turner and his wife, Stacy; her brother, Jerry Lawson; and her sister-in-law, Pat Lawson. Amy is also survived by her grandchildren: Jamie (Stephanie), Kristen (Andrew), Haley (Chris), Tyler, Brittany (Ross), Megan (Mike), and David (Nora); 9 great-grandchildren; long-time soul sisters, Etha Gist and Caryl Mussing; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and parishioners.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at St. James United Methodist Church in St. James, Missouri.
Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Tue September 27, 2022, at Eastlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
