Adam Wallace Tibbetts of St. James passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home in St. James, MO. He was 34 years of age.
He was born July 10, 1986, in Independence, MO, the son of Tommy L. and Mila Wallace Tibbetts.
He is survived by his father, one son, two brothers and 2 sisters, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother who entered into rest in 1998.
Adam graduated high school and attended Drury University, he received a Bachelor’s Degree. After college, he entered the United States Army and served his country in high combat in Iraq. He received the Iraq Campaign Medal, Three Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal (3RD Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award,) Combat Action Badge. He was subject to active-duty recall.
Upon returning home he was an avid bow hunter, and he loved riding his motorcycle. Adam was active in charity work and donated many hours to the Hardcore Ministries. He was tender-hearted but he was also tough as nails. Even though he enjoyed life his military career, it affected his ability to work. Sometimes Adam seemed disinterested or distant, but it was his way of trying not to think or feel in order to block out painful memories. Adam spent many hours with his PTSD doctor in Columbia, Mo., for whom the family is most grateful. He was loved by many, he proudly served despite the painful scars it left behind.
A Private Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held March 24th, 2021 at the family plot at Liberty Cemetery in Belle, Mo. Patriot Guard Riders will provide an escort to the cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
