Wanda L. Davis of St. James passed away June 5, 2009 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo. She was 83 years and 18 days of age.
Wanda L. Davis was born May 18, 1926, at High Gate, Mo., the daughter of the late Edward Allen and Gertie E. (Swaw) Birdsong.
On May 23, 1942, at Vienna, Mo., Wanda Davis was united in marriage to John Alfred "Tinker" Davis. He entered into rest December 13, 1984.
Wanda Davis is survived by one son; Don Davis and his wife Bonnie and two daughters: Jo Ann Pointer and husband Junior and Judy Boggs and friend Dave Gabel all of St. James, Mo. She is further survived by five grandchildren: Tammi Meese of Nixa, Mo., Jeff Davis of Washington, D.C., Brian Davis of Rolla, Darin Boggs of St. James and Lori Burks of Columbia, Mo. Along with nine very special great grandchilren: Jamie Meese, Sherry Meese, Kelsey Davis, Alison Davis, Macey Davis, Michael Harrah, Dawson Boggs, Hunter Burks and Hayden Burks.
Wanda Davis is preceded in death by her parents, husband and Brother: Conrad Birdsong, who passed away December 30, 2000
Wanda and her husband "Tinker" were life long residents of the High Gate Community. She attended the High Gate Baptist Church where she played the piano for 70 years. Wanda was a loving person who always had a friendly smile and a kind word wherever you met her. Wanda worked for 20 years at the Grocery Store in St. James. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services
Wanda Davis will lie in state Sunday June 7, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday June 8, 2009, at the High Gate Baptist Church with Boyd Gray officiating. Music will be provided by Harold Rowden and Family. Hymns: When We All Get to Heaven, What A Friend We Have In Jesus and Far Side Banks of Jorden will be sang. Pallbears will be Quentin Satterfield, Aaron Satterfield, Jeff Davis, Brian Davis, Darin Boggs and Rick Meese. Burial will be in the family plot at the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the High Gate Baptist Church.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
