Teresa Louise
Cure
Aug 14, 1946 — Jun 28, 2026
Teresa Louise Cure (Durbin), formerly of St. James, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026,at Summit Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri. Teresa, the daughter of Stephen Ralph Durbin II and Eileen Lanoix (Bell) Durbin Ayers was born on August 14, 1946, in Decatur, Illinois. She was 79 years of age.
Teresa’s journey through life was marked by abiding love, steadfast loyalty, and an unshakeable devotion to family. She cared for her younger siblings while her mother worked to provide food and an apartment for the family. Working together, the family was able to rent an apartment owned by their great-aunt, Velma Bell Peterman at the Alasta Gas Station for $25. Teresa willingly put her own career on hold for the sake of her family.
In later years, she attended school in Kansas City and became a licensed registered nurse. She worked at several hospitals in the Kansas City area. Through the years, she helped many people by providing resources for food and housing.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church; her love for the Lord led her to be a dedicated prayer warrior.
Teresa was blessed with rich and enduring relationships. She is survived by those who loved her deeply: her Kansas City family; her brother, Ronald Durbin and wife, Aina of Rolla, Missouri; her sister, Judi Schanta and husband, Michael of St. James, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bobby Cure; her brothers, Stephen Durbin III and Frank Durbin; her sister, Verna Iklil, and her nephews, Jere Durbin and Travis Durbin.
Teresa embraced both joy and challenges with unwavering grace. Whether holding tight to her siblings through difficult times or offering gentle guidance to those around her, Teresa’s love was steadfast and unconditional. Her legacy is measured not only in the memories cherished by those she leaves behind, but in the kindness and gentle strength she embodied. Some of her greatest memories were family reunions with all the Bells at Steelville, Missouri at Wildwood Lodge.
