T. J. Luger passed away on August 22, 2026, in St. James, Missouri, as the result of a truck accident while coming home from a mud racing event. He was born on March 26, 1978, in Rockford, Minnesota.

T. J. lived with energy, honesty, and heart. He was a go-getter who was always on the move, a man who wanted to help others, and someone who spoke plainly and sincerely. Those who knew him understood that he was matter-of-fact, genuine, and never left anyone guessing about what was on his mind. He brought that same strength and directness to the way he lived each day.

For more than 20 years, T. J. worked as a truck driver, most recently with Manchester Packaging in St. James, Missouri. He was deeply drawn to mud racing and motorsports, and he had also begun enjoying R.C. racing with his son, Lance. Those interests reflected his love of motion, competition, and time spent doing what excited him most.

Among the memories held close by those who loved him is a story from his childhood that stayed with him and his family for years. T. J. was raised by his grandmother, who lovingly called him “my sunshine.” When he was 6 years old, he was involved in a terrible car accident while traveling to Yellowstone with his great uncle, grandmother, and cousin. All four were thrown from the car, and his grandmother was left paralyzed. In the difficult days that followed, her “sunshine” helped her recover. That bond, and the love within it, remained a meaningful part of his story.

T. J. also leaves behind the lasting memory of courage in saving two girls who had fallen through the ice on a lake in Minnesota. It was an act that spoke clearly to the kind of man he was—quick to act, willing to help, and brave when it mattered most.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Chambers Luger of St. James, Missouri; his son, Lance Alan Luger of St. James; and daughters, Rachel Nicole Luger and Layna Elizabeth Luger, both of St. James, Missouri. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Ronda Chambers of St. James, Missouri.

He is lovingly remembered as well by his father, Tim Luger, and wife, Tyene of Las Vegas, Nevada; by his mother, Lisa Wilson-Hardy, and her husband, Mike Proffer of Cuba, Missouri; by his brothers, Brian Luger and Jacob Hardy; his sisters, Brianna Hardy, Krista Hardy, Kristen Luger, and Nicole Luger. Each of them carries forward memories of his drive, his candor, his willingness to help, and the unmistakable presence he brought into a room.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God Church, 300 N Outer Rd, St. James, Missouri 65559. Family request family and friends help celebrate T. J. by wearing attire that celebrates his interests: red, white, and blue; mud trucks; or motorsports.

T. J. will be remembered for the way he lived—fully, boldly, and with a readiness to step in for others. His love for his family, his work, and the things that brought him joy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
