Obituary

Sandy Ray Zinn of St. James passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at his home. He was 74 years of age.

Sandy, the son of the late Truman Martin and Florence Berniece Zinn, was born January 24, 1948, in St. Louis, MO.

He married his best friend, Wanda Adams on June 14, 1970, in St. James, MO.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Wanda of St. James, MO; one sister, Susan Zinn of Rolla, MO and three nephews: Jeff, Justin, and Jeremy Khoury.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Sandy was in the maintenance field all his life; over the course of his life, he worked for various businesses, including Phelps Health Hospital, the Schweitzer Plant in Rolla for many years, Brewer Science in Rolla, as well as several others. The skills he acquired enabled him to make his dreams a reality, particularly when he and Wanda built a home and turned it in to the beautiful Painted Lady Bed and Breakfast, a St. James landmark. Many out-of-town guests were privileged to enjoy an overnight stay and a warm, welcoming breakfast. The Christmas light display Sandy created was a yearly attraction for locals and a treat for tourists. Sandy always had a vision for projects. His latest dream was to build another house for his retirement, but it was not in our Master's plan.

Sandy was a brave soldier and served in the United States Army. Although he was never one to talk much about it, he fought bravely and served with honor and distinction – earning several awards and medals during his deployments to Korea.

Sandy will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
