Roberta Josephine Richards of St. James, Missouri passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri. She was 91 years of age.

Roberta, the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Rose Alice (Fry) Ogden, was born February 4, 1934 in St. Genevieve, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Richards on December 19, 1953 in Potosi, Missouri.

Roberta is survived by her daughter, Betty Fowler; granddaughter, Chrissy Griser; three great-grandchildren, Jade Griser-Ross; Mazzi Griser-Ross; and Aiden Haynes; and special friends, Mike and Debbie Starks who have offered help and kindness in so many ways.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd who passed away on May 4, 2024; her grandson, Jeffrey Griser; her brothers: Odell Ogden, Joseph Edward Ogden, Jr., Charles Martin Ogden, and James Michael Ogden; and her sisters: Margaret Mary Ogden, Francis DeWitt, Marcella Rose Reese, Patricia Wofford, Violet Basler, and Arlene Walker.

Roberta found joy in gardening she nurtured her plants to produce a bountiful harvest that she spent hours canning throughout the summer. She was an exceptional cook; she was known for her delicious fudge and cookies that became a cherished tradition during the Christmas season. During the slower times of the year, Roberta enjoyed quilting and embroidering beautiful pieces to share with her daughter and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren whether it be cooking with them in the kitchen or fishing at the river. She especially enjoyed trout fishing at Meramec Springs with Lloyd.

Her love for her family was boundless; she shared with them the values of kindness, creativity, and the importance of family. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery.
