Robert Lee Watson of St. James, MO passed away suddenly as a result of an accident while cutting timber, on Wednesday morning July 21, 2021. He was 56 years of age.

Robert Watson was born May 11, 1965, the son of Stanley and Sharon Kay McDaniels Phoenix Watson.

Robert Watson is survived by his fiancée, Elizabeth Murphy Miles of Steelville, MO., and Elizabeth's mother Norma, father: Stanley Watson of St. James, MO, Sons: Austin Watson of St James, MO, Robert Allen Watson and wife Paige of St James, MO, Blake Abrams and Gauge Licklider of Steelville, MO. Daughters: Ashley Downs and husband Zack of Springfield, MO, Reba Wallace and husband Nick of Cuba, MO, and Mickayla Watson and husband Cody of St. James, MO. Brother: Wade Watson of St James, MO, Sisters: Sherrie Martin and husband Patrick of Cuba, MO, and Penny Watson of Steelville, MO, and "Little Sister" Alexa, along with grandchildren, Halie Alise, Kaitlyn, Charlie, Aubrie, Carter, Emma, Lorenzo, Amelia, Ryker Thomas D. Brooks, including many other family members and many, many friends.

Robert Watson was a big kid at heart.  He dearly loved his family, and he was proud of each of them. He was a hard worker and loved doing what had been in his family for many generations, logging. Although his death was sudden and tragic, he was doing what he loved doing, being in the woods cutting trees with his dad.  He met a tree that kicked back and took him away from us, only to leave memories. After graduation in 1984, he worked for Larry Davis as a mechanic until 1987, and then he worked for Wagner Cable.  In 1992, he ventured out on his own cutting logs, and for a time he worked for his family. Recently, he was independent with his own equipment.  He loved fishing with his family and proving who could catch the biggest fish. He loved working with his brother Wade, building and working on their old trucks.  He will be sadly missed.

Robert Watson will lie in state from 5-8 pm Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Stephen Brubaker officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Allen Watson, Austin Watson, Wade Watson, Tyler Barnicle, Mark Lucas, and Patrick Martin. Honorary Pallbearers George Watson, Jeffery Watson, Cody Watson, and Mike Chandler. Burial will be in the family plot at the Asher Cemetery.  Memorial is suggested to the Watson Family.
