Robert George Jensen of St. James, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Robert was 70 years, 1 month, and 15 days of age.
Robert was born on November 1, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to his parents Arthur David and Astrid (Anderson) Jensen. Robert was united in marriage to Inez Marie "Mickie" Sorell on November 8, 1992 at the Salvation Army - Irving Corps in Chicago, Illinois.
Robert worked as a ground crew for United Airlines for many years. In his later years he was a freelance photographer. He loved to play chess, work with ceramics, exercising and to build model buildings. He was a member of the Wright Camera Club, Chicago Area Camera Club Association; and Chicago Artists Coalition. Robert was a Veteran and very proud of it. He always had a kind word for everyone and because he was that kind of person he was called The Gentle Giant. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving Robert is his wife of the home: Inez Marie "Mickie" Jensen of St. James, Missouri; two sons: Erik Jensen and wife Melissa of Collinsville, Illinois; Kurt Jensen of Chicago, Illinios; grandchildren: Elizabeth and Evan Jensen of Collinsville, Illinois; two step-sons William Berkson of St. James, Missouri; and Daniel Berkson of St. Petersburg, Florida; and one step-daughter: Theresa Berkson of St. James, Missouri; one step-grandson; Stone Berkson of St. Petersburg, Florida; one sister: Bonnie Cowhey and husband Jim of Lake Zurich, Illinois; a host of relatives and friends. Robert will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents: Arthur David and Astrid (Anderson) Jensen.
Services
Visitation for Robert will be at 12:00 noon till time of service on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri .
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Major Jacob Bender officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial with full military honors will be in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the St. James VFW #5608 in St. James, Missouri or the Salvation Army. Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home.
