Robert Cecil
"Bob" Mounce
August 24, 1933 – March 7, 2025
Robert Cecil "Bob" Mounce of St. James, Missouri passed away Friday, March 07, 2025 at his home. He was 91 years of age.
Bob, the son of the late Robert Michael and Julia Elizabeth (Norris) Mounce, was born August 24, 1933 in Maries County, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Dolly Wisdom on July 1, 1956 in St. James, Missouri.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dolly of the home; sisters-in-law, Betty Rinehart and Dorothy Wisdom of St. James, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim Mounce and Homer Mounce; and sisters, Ruth Alvey and Aida Gibson.
He and his wife, Dolly were married for 68 years; their love for God and their love for one another made a firm foundation upon which their marriage was built. He and Dolly not only worked side by side helping each other, but they loved spending time together enjoying the things that they loved. They enjoyed relaxing by the lakeside or along the Gasconade River. When camping out, they always found time to cast a few lines, hoping to catch enough fish for meal time. His kindness was experienced by many family members and friends throughout the years as he was always ready to lend a helping hand. With his seasoned years of experience, he knew just the right words or just the right advice needed to encourage others through their struggles.
He loved gathering with family and friends to ride horses, whether it be a short Sunday afternoon ride or a trail ride at Eminence, Missouri. He enjoyed a friendly game of horseshoes or a bowling match. When choosing words to describe Bob, one may choose fun-loving, supportive, and easy going. Definitely, these words are all describe him, but a couple more words could be added. Competitive and talented could be added. He was talented using a cross-cut saw. He and his brother enjoyed entering cross-cut saw competitions, and they won the competition two years in a row at Meramec Springs.
He loved playing baseball; he played for St. James, Cuba, and Steelville.
He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He watched every game that he could, and he loved to offer his take on how well they played.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in St. James, Missouri where he served as usher, deacon and trustee. He also served as bus driver for the church, only missing two times in 19 years.
During his working career, Bob held positions in various businesses. He worked at the shoe factory for 19 years, Schweitzer for 19 years, Cox Plumbing for 5 years, Stanley's Garden Center for 4 seasons, and retired from City of St. James with 5 years of service.
Bob was a faithful husband and a steadfast presence in the lives of his family and friends. His memory will be carried on through the many stories shared around campfires, at family events, and among his church family.
