Obituary

Richard Eugene Haughey of St. James passed away Friday, September 16, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  He was 71 years of age.

Richard, the son of the late Bert S. and Anna I. Bisso Haughey, was born April 16, 1951 in Merced, California.  He was united in marriage to Karin Cassidy on May 25, 1991 in San Antonio, Texas.

Richard is survived by his wife, Karin of St. James; four sons: Shawn Haughey, David Haughey, Mike Mundale and wife, Danielle of Lake St. Louis, MO and Scott Mundale and Destiny of Lincoln City, Oregon; brother, Jim Haughey of Illinois; and four grandchildren: Ashley Mundale, Gauge Mundale, Dayton Mundale, and Razvon Mundale.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Richard retired from the United States Air Force in 1991.  He served as a radio communications analysis technician for 20 years. He worked with the National Security Agency on many assignments.  He completed tours in Japan and many other places.  During his service, he earned many medals: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award; Organizational excellence Award; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Overseas Short Tour Ribbon; Overseas Long Tour Ribbon; Longevity Service Award Ribbon; NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Training Ribbon, and Meritorious Service Medal.

He loved spending time with his family playing board games, card games, lawn darts, horseshoes, and baseball.  He enjoyed visiting his special friends, Eric and Donnette Bullock, who lived across the street. He would alert Karin the minute the Bullocks arrived home so that he could go across the street and visit them.

Richard will lie in state 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral services with Full Military Honors will be 12:30 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Bullock, Chris Bullock, Jake Davis, Scott Mundale, Mike Mundale, James Groves, and Shawn Gibson.

Memorials may be given to American Kidney Association.
