Reta Lynn Wehmeier of St. James, Missouri passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri. She was 65 years old.
Reta, the daughter of the late Charles Jefferson and Nora Katherine (Branstetter) Adams, Jr., was born May 30, 1958 in Rolla, Missouri. She was united in marriage to William Ray "Bill" Wehmeier on November 19, 1977 in St. James, Missouri.
Reta is survived by her husband, Bill of St. James, Missouri; daughter, Rebecca Sue Wehmeier of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren: Omero William Inda, Olivia A. Inda, and Amiah A. Inda; brothers, Scott Adams and wife, Sheila of St. James, Missouri and Brian Adams and wife, Diane of St. James, Missouri; sister, Sally Jean Falkenrath of Rolla, Missouri; and nieces and nephews: Morgan Adams, Miranda Nowlin, Chad Bell, Jason Bell and Travis Bell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nora; mother-in-law, Ruth Wehmeier; father-in-law, Ray Wehmeier; sister-in-law, Donna Wehmeier; and brother-in-law, Russ Falkenrath.
Reta was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was very important to Reta; she loved helping her daughter, Becky with her children when they were young. Grandma Reta was their biggest supporter and cheerleader whether it be at their ball games, cheerleading events, or in their academic pursuits. She enjoyed helping her husband, Bill with the cattle on the farm. She was also involved in 4-H and FFA; she was the first female student in the St. James FFA Chapter. She played volleyball on her high school team. In her professional life, she worked at Missouri S&T as an administrative associate in the accounting department for over 30 years. She served as the secretary for the St. James Fire District.
Reta was very talented in several types of needlework. She was a prolific quilter; she had designed, pieced, and quilted over a hundred quilts. She liked to share her labors of love and creativity with her family and friends. She spent many hours quilting and attending workshops with her sister and quilting friends; she especially enjoyed quilt hopping. Alongside quilting, she constructed many garments over the years for classes, contests, and family members. She was also talented in the art of crocheting; she crocheted her wedding dress. Throughout her life, she created many beautiful pieces with her creativity and her adept skills with fibers.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Don Carson officiating. Pallbearers will be Omero Inda, Jason Bell, Nolan Bell, Dylan Salter, Jeremy Williams, and Tom Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Olivia Inda, Amiah Inda, Miranda Nowlin, and Morgan Adams. Burial will be in the Asher Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
