Obituary

Rainey P. Moreland of St. James, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, Missouri. He was 85 years of age.

Rainey, the son of the late Gilbert and Ethel Irene (Mosher) Moreland, was born August 7, 1939 in Vichy, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Arminta Matilda Branstetter on August 1, 1959 at the church of Christ in St. James, Missouri. Tillie passed away on March 30, 2024; Rainey and Tillie had been married 65 years.

Rainey worked as a meat-cutter and farmer for many years. He was a loyal friend, a God-fearing man, and a member of Broadway Baptist Church. Rainey was instrumental in building the fellowship hall at Broadway Baptist Church.

In his spare time, Rainey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He and his wife, Tillie, spent many happy days camping at the Lake of the Ozarks. Rainey rarely missed opening day of deer season, and he operated a Wild Game Processing Plant, processing hundreds of deer and beef for his friends and neighbors.

Rainey's life was marked by resilience and faith. He survived a horrific accident with a combine that most men would not have survived. His resilience is a testament to his strength and the plans that God had for him. Rainey will be remembered for his friendliness and the humorous stories that he told.

Rainey's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
