Oren Junior Reed of St. James, Missouri passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center on February 7, 2011. Oren Reed was 81 years, 4 months and 1 day of age.

Oren Reed was born in Maries County, Missouri on October 6, 1929 to his parents: John and Millie Frances (Leach) Reed. Oren Reed was united in marriage to Essie Marie Hanes on October 6, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas.

Oren Reed worked for Fisher Body, Arthur Dillon Clay mining; and for California Manufacturing Company.

Oren Reed is survived by three sons: Lawrence Reed and wife Ruby of Cuba, Missouri; Timothy Reed of St. James, Missouri; and Jay Hanes and wife Beverly of Cuba, Missouri;
one daughter-in-law: Diane Reed of St. James, Missouri; and three grandchildren: John Reed Jr. and wife Sarah; Joshua Reed and Amber Reed.

Preceding Oren Reed in death are his parents: John Taylor and Millie Frances (Leach) Reed; wife: Essie Marie (Hanes) Reed on February 4, 1993; one son: John Reed on February 11, 1995; one daughter: Eva Marie Soper on December 12, 2008; two brothers: William Reed on July 6, 1976; and David Fredrick Reed on December 31, 1981; and one sister: Beulah Lee Reed on September 29, 1985.

Services
Visitation for Oren Reed will be on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 5 - 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Marshall Hagler officiating. Pallbearers will be: Jay Hanes, Brian Hanes, Richard Callahan, Scott Westerman, John Reed Jr. and Lester Bridgeman. Burial will be in the family plot in the High Gate Church Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
