Obituary

Nellie Jane Spurgeon formerly of St. James. Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Westphalia Retirement in Westphalia, Missouri. She was 80 years, 10 months and 22 days of age.

Nellie Jane Spurgeon was born on June 19, 1928 at Safe, Missouri to her parents: William Bola and Galena (Sewell) Welch.

Jane was united in marriage March 8, 1947, in Tupelo, MIssissippi to Kenneth Duane Spurgeon, who preceded her in death on November 4, 1970. They had one child, the joy of her life. William Ranzy Spurgeon who preceded her in death on November 4, 1996.

Jane Spurgeon graduated from St. James High School and attended Beauty School in Jefferson City, Missouri. Jane was a beauty operator in St. James for many years. Jane was a member of the Assembly of God Church in St. James, Missouri.

Jane Spurgeon is survived by Diana Spurgeon Breen and husband Tom of Hartsburg, Missouri; Grandchildren Sarah Willson and husband Darren; William Ranzy Spurgeon Jr. and wife Sarah all of Jefferson City, Missouri; Jonathan Spurgeon and wife Hilary of Columbia, Missouri; Great-Grandchildren: Lathe, Cale, and Ava Willson; Sisters: Ethel Mae Gunset, Grace Corbin and husband Harold; Wilma Ann Tipton and husband Leroy and Betty Grotha.

Preceding Jane Spurgeon in death are parents; Sister: Annie Christina Welch, Myrtle Rinehart, and two Brothers: James William Welch and Cecil B. Welch.

Services
Visitation for Jane Spurgeon will be from 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 10 AM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Mary Taylor officiating. Music will be provided by Mae Yates. Pallbearers will be William Spurgeon, Jonathan Spurgeon, Daren Willson, David Tipton, Dennis Tipton, Richard Grotha, MIke Grotha, and Greg Grotha. Burial will be in the family plot in the Oak Forest Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus at 2418 Hyde Park Rd. Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
