Obituary

Mary Dean Nevins, 81, of Rolla Missouri, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, died on April 9, 2009. Mary died peacefully at home after a long illness and was surrounded by family and close friends.

Mary was born on July 7, 1927 in Fort Worth, Texas to Geraldine and Weyman Fincher. She graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth in 1944. She briefly worked for the National Weather Bureau from 1944-1946. Upon her marriage in 1946 to Dan she devoted herself to his career in the Air Force and raising their two children. Upon their retirement from the military she had an enjoyable career with the Medical Practice of Dr. James A. Farley where she worked as the Office Manager from 1966-1979. In 1994, they moved from Lake Whitney, Texas to Rolla, Missouri. Mary was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Rolla, and enjoyed spending time golfing, reading and quilting. Mary was a warm, kind, generous, loving and wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Daniel Nevins of Rolla, MO, Daughter, Joan Sample and son-in-law James Sample of Salem, MO, Son, David A. Nevins and daughter-in-law Catherine Nevins of Roseville, CA and her sister Joan Clark of Hurst, TX. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jill Denny and her husband Mike of Joplin, MO; grandson Staff Sergeant James Ellis Sample currently stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix Arizona, great-granddaughter Madalen Denny of Joplin, MO; grandchildren Danielle Gerhardt and her husband Andy of Sacramento, CA and Kenneth Collins of East Brunswick, NJ; 9 beloved nieces and nephews including: John Clark and his wife Cindy; Nancy Terrell; Henry Clark and his wife Sandy; Beth Melugin and her husband Merl; Greg Clark; Bonnie Clark; Larry Norris; Marilyn Nevins and John Robert (Robby) Nevins. She is also survived by many loving cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her, mother, Geraldine Fincher and father, Weyman Fincher.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dottie Rushing, Phelp's County Regional Medical Center, all the employees at Davita Dialysis Center of Rolla and Phelps Regional Home Care Hospice for the extraordinary care given to Mary.

Services
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Funeral services will be held at Jones Funeral Home on April 17, 2009 at 10.00 A.M. with Darren Myer of Landmark Baptist Church of Rolla, Mo. Internment will be held at the Sample Farm and Family Cemetery in Salem, MO followed by a lunch at the Landmark Baptist Church, 10175 Old St. James Road, Rolla, MO, 65401. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild, PO Box 2277, Rolla, MO, 65402 or Phelps County Community Partnership, 1101 Hauck Drive, Rolla, MO, 65401 in the name of Mary Dean Nevins.
