Mary Ellen (Sewell) Dake passed away at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Mo. on April 18, 2015. Mary Dake was 84 years, 8 months and 25 days of age.
Mary Ellen Dake was born on July 24, 1930 in Phelps County to her parents: Breuer B. and Della C. John Sewell. She was united in marriage to Monta Myron Dake on February 14, 1978 in Houston, Mo.
Mary Dake worked in St. James and Rolla for 40 years. She helped teach Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in St. James and served as a greeter at First Assembly in Rolla.
Mary graduated from John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Mo. where she was an honor student, cheerleader and participated in choir, band and plays. Mary Dake was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mary Dake is survived by two sons: Dennis Lee Shockley and Gary Dean Shockley along with grandchildren: Ryan, Brant, Stephanie, Chad, and Jacob Shockley and great-grandchildren: Ava and Stockton Shockley.
Mary Dake is preceded in death by her parents: Brewer and Della Sewell and her husband: Monta Dake, and one sister: Genevieva Kauffman.
Services
Private funeral services were conducted at the Jones Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2015 with Jerry Baumann officiating. Pallbearers were: Dennis Shockley, Brant Shockley, Chad Shockley, Gary Shockley, Ryan Shockley, and Jacob Shockley. Burial was in the family plot in St. James Cemetery.
All arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
